Spring in Western Maine is a transitional season. Despite nature's volatility, the receding snow line followed by the first sights and sounds of spring make an April or May hike of Bigelow or the AT an exhilarating experience. We are eager to hear your thoughts and experiences on spring hiking in western Maine. Please feel free to post a comment below or send excerpts from your hiking diaries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Herbert Hotel's Hiker's Blog
Welcome to the Western Maine Hiker's Blog sponsored by the Herbert Hotel in Kingfield, Maine. We started this blog as a service to current, repeat and future guests interested in hiking the Appalachian Trail, Bigelow Mountain or Western Maine in general. After each hike, guests are invited to chronicle their day's adventure. Each story will be posted to this blog along with any pictures. It is our hope that this blog will create an interactive guest history to be used by anyone visiting the gorgeous western mountains of Maine.
